Downtown Boise punches well above its weight for happy hour. This is a companion to our full eateries list, scoped specifically to downtown — real days, hours, and specials, not vague “afternoons.” Hours and prices change without notice, so treat this as a strong starting point, not gospel — call ahead if you’re making a special trip for a specific deal. Know a downtown happy hour we missed, or one that’s changed since we last checked? Let us know in the comments below.
Our Favorites’ Happy Hours
Coa de Jima (615 W Main St) — BOGO happy hour, 7 days a week, 4–6 PM. We only really go for the happy hour — the birria tacos are a must.
Owyhee Tavern (1109 W Main St) — Mon–Sat 3–6 PM, plus a late-night round Fri–Sat 9 PM–close. $6 red/white wine and all drafts; cocktails include the Dark & Stormy, Ginger Margarita, and Cucumber Refresher. Food: $5 chimichurri fries, $5 garlic & herb hummus, $7 spicy ahi wonton tacos, $8 prime beef fondue, $8 smoked chicken wings, and the $10 kung pao calamari — the dish that keeps us coming back.
The Funky Taco (801 W Bannock St) — Daily 3–6 PM, all day on Tuesdays and Sundays. Half-price draft beer and wine, $5 margaritas and select cocktails, street tacos 3-for-$12. Their happy hour running basically every day of the week is hard to beat, and the “Piggy Stardust” pit pork is the standout order any time.
Hemlock (500 S Capitol Blvd) — 7 days a week, 3–6 PM. We couldn’t pin down itemized special pricing beyond the hours, but we can vouch for the “Happy Meal” — a beer and a burger for $20 — which is honestly a bit pricey for happy hour, in keeping with our overall mixed feelings on this place.
Stardust Restaurant & Lounge (1002 Main St) — Daily 3–5 PM, in the bar area or on the patio seasonally, no reservations. Discounts on small bites and select drinks. Great staple drink deals, though we’ve been put off before by the happy hour food pricing and small portion sizes.
Bardenay — Basque Block location (610 W Grove St) — Daily 2–5 PM. Food starting at $3, drinks starting at $5 — roughly half off food and discounted cocktails, spirits, beer, and wine. Stick to this location specifically; the Garden City Bardenay runs an abbreviated menu.
Yen Ching (305 N 9th St) — 4:30–6:30 PM. $2 well drinks, cocktails half off. We couldn’t confirm which days this runs beyond dinner service (Mon–Sun), so treat the days as probable rather than certain. Arguably the best local Chinese food we’ve had since leaving San Francisco.
Bar Gernika (202 S Capitol Blvd, Basque Block) — Confirmed to run a happy hour with deals on drinks and small plates, but we couldn’t find published specifics on days, hours, or prices anywhere — call (208) 344-2175 or check bargernika.com before making the trip. Come for the croquetas regardless; a true Boise institution.
Other Downtown Spots Worth Checking Out

Chandlers Prime Steaks & Fine Seafood (981 W Grove St) — “Social Hour,” Mon–Fri 4–6 PM, bar/lounge only. $10 bites (Pacific oysters, American Wagyu sliders, spicy popcorn shrimp, teriyaki bites, spicy meatballs), $10 sips, $8 beer.
8 Horses Lounge (beneath Fork, 199 N 8th St) — Tue–Sat 4–6 PM. 19 wines by the glass, 23 by the bottle, cocktails (Palomino, Yellow Jacket, Baja Breeze), and apps from sister restaurant ÀLAVITA. Exact special pricing wasn’t published anywhere we could find.
Trillium Kitchen + Cocktails (245 S Capitol Blvd) — Sun–Thu 3–6 PM, branded “The Primer Hours.” $9 cocktails, $5 brews, select wines, half-price appetizers.
Tavolàta (524 W Grove St) — Daily 4–6 PM. Specific pricing wasn’t published in any source we found.
Acero Boards & Bottles (801 W Main St) — Mon–Fri 11 AM–6 PM, a notably long window. $6 wine glasses, $6 beer pitchers.
Pho Nouveau (780 W Idaho St) — Mon–Fri 4–6 PM. $5.50 appetizers, $3.50 beer/sake, $4.50 wine.
The Reef (105 S 6th St) — Daily 3–6 PM. $4 drafts and wells, $8 wine, $7 mojitos/margaritas/mules, $5 bites.
Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen & Bar (150 N 8th St) — Mon–Fri 4–6 PM. Half off starters, $2 off drafts/bottles/wine, $5 well spirits — plus daily themed specials: Mimosa Mondays, ‘Tini Tuesdays ($3 martinis), Wine Wednesday (half off bottles), Tequila Thursday ($6 margaritas).
Leku Ona (Basque Block, 117 S 6th St) — Mon–Fri 4–6 PM. $2 domestics, $3 imports, $4 drafts/Kalimotxo. A solid second Basque-Block option if Bar Gernika’s happy hour specifics are hard to pin down.
Matador (215 N 8th St) — Daily 4–6 PM and again 10 PM–close. $6–7 menu items (salads, soups, tacos, appetizers), street tacos.
Saint Lawrence Gridiron (705 W Bannock St) — Wed–Fri 4–6 PM, Sat–Sun 2–6 PM. Half off cocktails, beer, and wine by the glass.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House (800 W Main St) — 4:30–6:30 PM. Exact days weren’t confirmed in what we found — likely daily given typical Ruth’s Chris happy hour patterns, but worth confirming.
A Few Notes
Mai Tai doesn’t currently have a dine-in happy hour — the Union Block building it operated out of was condemned for structural issues, and as of this writing it’s cloud-kitchen delivery and limited patio pickup only. We’re hoping this changes; see the eateries list for more.
Little Pearl Oyster Bar doesn’t run a traditional happy hour, but has standing specials worth knowing about: $2 oysters on Tuesdays, and a “Champagne Hour” Tuesday–Saturday, 4:30–6 PM.
The Boise Post is too new (opened in 2026, 16th floor of the AC Hotel downtown) to have happy hour info published yet — worth checking back on.
Consider this a living document too — happy hours change often, and we’ll update this as we confirm new details or find new favorites.
